Without city funding support, they created a 4 day event, free to black and brown queer communities in the Bay Area. The festival returned in 2018, renamed The Multivrs is Illuminated, and now with Shawna and Jade as the main organizers. Black, Brown, Indigenous, Trans and Queer communities from around the world traveled to participate and perform at the festival. Both Shawna and Jade faced dwindling art spaces to host the festival, due to the affects of the city shutting down DIY art spaces as a response to the Ghostship Fire. In 2020, Shawna continued to plan to organize the festival again in the Bay Area. The Covid Pandemic altered the world and especially the US. Shawna, with the support of new organizer, Juicebox, planned a virtual Multivrs Is Illuminated Festival.
